An inclusive dance school where all youngsters can spread their wings!
Flamingo Chicks CIC provides an inclusive community giving children with disabilities and illnesses such as cancer the opportunity to enjoy ballet alongside their friends.
We have all kinds of children in our classes including those undergoing treatment for cancer, children who are visually impaired, those with autism, cerebral palsy, Downs Syndrome or other needs. We actively celebrate what our children CAN do.
While the children explore movement their parents and carers benefit from a vital support network.
Our vision is a world where disabled people have the same range of opportunities, and a culture of integrated social and well-being activity, where everyone works together as equals.
Out of class we provide an active parents/carers support community with regular events.
We’re a volunteer led organisation particularly encouraging first time volunteers and we provide transport and support to help older volunteers aged 65+ participate too.
We’re passionate about creating an intergenerational community.
Prime Minister David Cameron says: “Flamingo Chicks knows that helping children to enjoy dance is about far more than physical benefits. It helps to build confidence, vital social and communication skills and self-esteem. Flamingo Chicks has inspired a team of volunteers to make sure that children are able to dance alongside their friends regardless of their disabilities."
